I have learned how to do a bibliography correctly.

My next step is to get the bibliography correct the first time.

What is the problem with plastic?

The problem with plastic is that it does not easily degrade. It may break down, but only into smaller pieces. The smaller those pieces get, the more places they can go.

What is plastic?

A type of material with synthetic in it. It can be made into just about any shape because it can be molded.

Why is it a problem for the environment?

Because most of the plastic is going into the ocean and hurting or killing an animal or it is making the environment look like a rubbish bin.  

What facts can you find about the amount of plastic we use, how it is made, how it breaks down?

• 50 percent of the plastic we use we throw it away after one use.
• Enough plastic is thrown away each year to circle the earth four times.
• 46 percent of plastics float
• Plastic in the ocean breaks down into such small segments that pieces of plastic from a one litre bottle could end up on every mile of beach throughout the world.

What can you do to help?

Stop littering. People aren't going to stop making plastics but that's alright because all we need to do is think about what we are doing to the animals and the environment and things will be good. Buy in bulk it is usually cheaper and causes less rubbish. Take your own bags to the supermarket rather than using their bags.

Create a glossary of at least 5 technical words used in your research.

• Terephthalate - a type of acid
• Oceanographer - someone who studies the ocean and marine life.
• Polypropylene - a synthetic resin used in fabric and molded objects
• Microbeads - an extremely small piece of plastic, used in cleansing products as exfoliating agents.
• Zooplankton - plankton consisting of small animals.
